Tonnerre, Patrimonial Town in Burgundy

2 hours from Paris by train or car

Description :

Introduction to painting en plein-air in the streets and narrow alleys of Tonnerre, classified as a “Petite Cité de Caractère” and historic stronghold of Margerite de Bourgogne-Tonnerre, Countess of Tonnerre, Queen of Naples and Sicily (13th century).

Labeled “Petite Cité de Caractère” Tonnerre is mainly structured by old buildings, some dating back to the late Middle Ages.

Close to Épineuil and Chablis, whose renowned wines speak for themselves 😉

Three days of introduction to plein-air painting will cover topics such as choosing a view, its placement on the canvas (composition), how to capture the subject on the canvas with quick brush strokes (pochade), and how to add details that will give the necessary depth to your work. At the end of these three days, you will be able to take your easel and go hunting for subjects on the spot and progress at your own pace.
